Sri Lanka saw a 38 percent rise in tourist arrivals during the first 15 days of April 2025, with 93,915 visitors recorded. India led with 18,220 arrivals, followed by the UK with 11,425. Russia dropped to third place with 8,705 visitors. Total tourist arrivals for 2025 reached 816,191 by April 15, marking a 16 percent increase from the previous year. The country's winter tourist season traditionally begins in April. Last year, tourist numbers were affected after the government scrapped an easytouse electronic visa system and replaced it with a more complex private portal. The original system was later reinstated following a Supreme Court ruling.
