“Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to You for refuge.” – Psalm 16:1 (NLT)
“I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.” – Psalm 16:7-8
Going to be a little vulnerable in this one because I feel strongly that there is power in doing this. This week has been intense with a step up in the warfare. There are personal factors that play into it, along with the reality of this week being the lead up to Halloween, which is an evil day. But despite all of this warfare and the battle that is ongoing, these verses speak directly to my heart today.
We serve an amazing, loving God! He has promised protection to those who abide in Him, who run to Him for safety. And this is where I find myself today. I have nowhere else to run except to Him, for anything outside of Him only offers a false sense of security. There is no true safe space anywhere except in Him.
He is like the eye of a storm. Right in the center of who He is, that is where the safest and most calm area is. But the moment you step outside of the center, you find yourself in the swirling chaos. And if you are not careful to recenter yourself in Him, you can get lost in the storm.
This is where I find myself, in the middle of the storm. Right in the eye of His peace. Despite the debris and the ruckus around me, He is my Protector. He is my Refuge.
This is another short but to the point article, but the simplicity of it is powerful to me. I pray that it carries the same impact and power over your life as well, whenever and wherever you are in life when you find yourself reading this. May these words re-assure you that you are not alone, and that you have a God who fights for you. All we have to do is run to Him for that safety, and He will handle the rest.
“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence and the pleasures of living with You forever.” – Psalm 16:11
