Psalm 11

“I trust in the Lord for protection. So why do you say to me, ‘Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety! The wicked are stinging their bows and fitting their arrows on the bowstrings. They shoot from the shadows at those whose hearts are right. The foundations of law and order have collapsed. What can the righteous do?'” – Psalm 11:1-3 (NLT)

This passage I feel is so relevant for our world, especially given the last few years. Fear runs rampant. The spirit of fear was unleashed and revealed in a deeper way in 2020 with everything revolving around COVID. And there are still so many who are living in that fear that was brought to the surface back then. And yes, I am aware that what I am saying and going to say is extremely controversial, but I am beyond caring about the controversial attributes of the Truth.

I think we all would expect those who are not believers to be easily given to a spirit of fear. They don’t know where their help comes from, so they have nowhere else to run except into fear. But the level of fear that is still seeping out of the church, THAT is not ok. Where fear thrives, faith dies. And there are many whose faith is nowhere to be found anymore because of the events of the last two years.

Some might question whether their faith was genuine, and I believe that for a handful of people there genuinely was a small level of faith. But the soil which the seed fell on was shallow, and the roots did not grow deep enough to keep them grounded in the midst of what has happened, resulting in a loss of faith and a deep gain of fear. And we have the nerve to question why the church is so ineffective now.

So COVID hits, causing people to spiral into a life of fear. People began to wear masks, hiding behind a piece of cloth for what they thought was protection. And those who refused to put their trust in this piece of cloth, they were ostracized and cut off from society. They were cast out. All in the name of fear.

Then the supposed “vaccines” were unleashed, and this became the new standard by which your life was weighed. Either get the shot, or be cut off from society entirely. Oh, and don’t forget to continue wearing the mask, even though you have the shot. Can we just all acknowledge how driven by fear this whole thing has been? Because fear not only kills faith, but it completely throws critical thinking and common sense out the window. Fear blinds us from the reality of truth, which is why the enemy wants us to be so overcome by fear.

Here’s the thing, I’m not going to come at anyone who got the shot. The question I pose to you though is, what were the motives behind it? Because if you got it out of fear, then your motives were not in the right place.

Our trust in God should be so strong that we fear nothing. We should have such a deep sense of faith in Him that nothing causes us to waiver or stumble. The unknown scares so many people, yet we are to live in the mystery of the unknown before the Lord. How can we truly walk in a lifestyle of faith before the Lord if we don’t actually trust the One we say that our faith is in? When times get tough, where do you run? Do you trust the mountains to keep you safe? If so, your faith is misplaced, and the rocks that fall from the mountains will eventually crush you. There is no true safety found anywhere except under the wings of the Most High.

If we fall so easily during an event that quite honestly is minuscule compared to what is coming, how will we stand when the man of lawlessness arises? Because the pressure to fall in line and comply is going to be on a completely different level then.

Only God can keep you safe. Only God can provide true protection. Safety and peace is not found in Donald Trump or Joe Biden. Safety and peace is not found in a piece of cloth or a shot that no one really knows anything about. There is but one place from where your help comes from, only one place where safety and peace abides. Outside of Him, there is no place you can run for safety.

In the midst of the lawlessness and the collapse of order that is now happening, where will you be found? When the attacks of the wicked increase in intensity, where will you run? Or will you run at all?

“But the Lord is in His holy Temple; the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth.” – Psalm 11:4
